Geoffrey Cain is an award-winning journalist and author who writes about Asian affairs and, in particular, the two Koreas. He is a senior correspondent for GlobalPost and formerly covered Korea for TIME.

He has covered Asia for The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, The New Republic, Fast Company, Far Eastern Economic Review, and Foreign Policy, among others. In addition to filing dispatches from North and South Korea, he has reported from Thailand, Indonesia, China, and Japan, and was previously based in Vietnam, Cambodia, Washington DC and London. Geoffrey also writes a Korean-language column for Seoul’s Kyunghyang Shinmun newspaper.

Geoffrey has appeared as a guest discussing North Korea and Asian affairs on MSNBC, Bloomberg TV, CBS Radio, Huffington Post Live, al-Jazeera America and others. He is regularly sought out as a consultant by international organizations such as the World Health Organization and Open Government Partnership.  His reporting was a finalist for a 2015 Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) award.

A former Fulbright scholar, he holds an MA (Distinction) from London’s School of Oriental and African Studies and a BA from The George Washington University, which he attended on a music scholarship. He is an avid jazz trombonist and life-long student of the societies of Asia.
